Styles

16

The Silka Font is a versatile sans serif typeface that includes 16 different styles, each with its own unique lines to complement any designs we make. One of the things that set the Silka Font apart from other sans serifs is its calligraphic details. The letters have slight variations in width, which gives them a hand-drawn look.

It’s available in both regular and italic styles, as well as a number of weights from Extra Light to Black. This makes it easy to use in both small texts and large headlines. We mainly use Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold and occasionally Black.

Silka Regular is used in body and small texts.

Silka Medium is used when we need a slightly thicker text in a design, it could be body text, intro texts or buttons. Or when we put black text on top of our Light colors.

Silka SemiBold, Bold and Black are great when we want to highlight an important message in our designs. They all work really well in large sizes so give it a try and be bold!

Silka font characters

Silka is a geometric sans serif descendent of Futura font. But Silka takes a new stab at geometry and it looks more contemporary than other fonts in the same category. A minimal contrast of strokes, a closed aperture and geometric shapes of characters manage to express a neutral and clear typeface. It consists of a wide range of characters that fits the needs for our different markets and languages.

Fallback font

The Helvetica Neue font family is used in the cases where Silka is not available, such as a Keynote presentations, Google Slides and in other online platforms.

As a Tibber employee your computer comes with the Helvetica Neue font installed.

Tracking, kerning & leading

When creating our brand material we go through the typography and make sure nothing looks out of place. In some cases Silka needs tracking, kerning and leading. For body texts in a digital environment tracking and kerning is usually not needed. But working with the leading can make the text a lot easier to read. When we design large headlines and for print it’s important that the text looks neat and tight, so some tracking and kerning is usually needed.

Typography in our communication

Here are a few examples of how we can work with typography in different parts of our brand. On one side very bold messaging using our Tibber Blue as a background and Pure Black as a contrasting large headline and with few other objects to draw attention.

And on the other side more subtle typography, white on top of a darker image to convey a clear message in our social channels. Or talking to our audience through our official channels such as our website.

Our goal with the typography work we do is that the messaging is always easy to understand, read and like. So when working with your designs, make sure you reach for these goals, to help our customers, and ourselves, have a more meaningful brand moment with us.
